Most people wouldn't really know how to do that without messing things up.

I think most people follow tech tutorials on unlocking the bootlocker, bios, or firmware on lockeddown laptops, so they mostly type commands from a tutorial they saw online, and hope the tutorial works.

But, things can go wrong if they somehow turn off their laptop before they finish the install.

I've had people who shut their PCS off during upgrades, myself also when they got stuck.

I also had to turn off my computer when a Windows update got stuck. I try to backup my important files before installing Windows Update, so I can still easily open my computer files on another computer if Windows update broke Windows.

There are also more hackers and ransomware makers which attacking average users, so they can steal your data, and hold your files for ransom, so it is important to backup your files, so you won't lose them because of a hacker and ransomware which attacked your computer.
