most of their weight is tied to the power supply as some do have backup power.

Those UPS battery backup power bars do sometimes weigh a lot.

Oh they weigh a ton, need to be able to lift some stuff if you hope to hold an IT job.

I think many UPS batteries use lead acid batteries similar to most gas car batteries which are also heavy.

It's not easy, at least they made batteries lighter in smaller stuff, even if you can't take them out.

I think some servers and desktop computers now use mobile CPUs and SSD storage drives which don't use as much power, so they may not need very big batteries for backup power.
