INSOMNIACS ARE fast turning to the world wide wibble when sleep seems to be out of the question, according to new research from Standard Life Healthcare.
Just over a thousand UK residents, aged 16+ were asked of their not-sleeping habits and a massive one in seven said that the internet was their first call when they can't sleep. The number was higher for the under-34s, with one in five saying that they booted up their computers when a good night's sleep was nowhere to be found.
Although the distractions of the net initially may make for a viable alternative to lying in bed wide-eyed and agitated, the survey found that plenty of late-night/early-morning users regret their groggy surfing. One tired e-mailer was said to have sent off an email advising his friend about marital problems, but in a tired haze sent the message to his friend's wife. Ooh err. µ
