Do you think originality is rare these days?

Yes, when I listen to the radio. A lot of the songs sounds similar to other songs.
A lot of movies seem to just copy their plot from other well known films in the past.

Originality and creativity is severely lacking nowadays
But it's want keeps those with small minds entertained

It is rare that you anything original these days.
When you brought up movies, it reminded me of this episode of family guy with Spielberg was supposed to have a script in for a movie and he starts picking things around the room "Evil lamp, bah blah blah".\
It's sad that you can't see a movie without the same plot
I want to see an evil lamp movie..

I would tend to agree with you when you say its rare. However with so many people, it is very difficult to come up with a completely original idea. Its more building up variations on existing ideas.
