Don't hold your breath

SOFTWARE giant Microsoft has issued a series of useful tips on its help page which it claims can speed up its flagship operating system Vista.

It appears that punters have been complaining that Vista is about as sluggish as a pavement in Hamburg after heavy rainfall.

But that is not the fault of the operating system, claims the helpful Volish help page. Apparently all PCs get slower over time because you naughty users fill it with antispyware and antivirus tools, and download untold amounts of junk from the Internet.

Microsoft's techniques to speed up Vista include deleting programs you never use and limiting the number of programs at start-up and er, that's it.

Well pretty useful advice. Much like suggesting that you could speed up your Vista machine by wiping the operating system and installing Ubuntu

Pfft,

either add ram, or something surprising that many wouldn't know disable all the rubbish vista comes preloaded with and vista will be about 30-50% faster

and disable the "power saver functions"

bloody companies thinking we need power saver functions if we wanted to give a crap about the environment we would get rid of the big whole in front of real computers where we insert kittens and other cute furry animals that make people go *awww* and makes real computer people sick to the gill's turning there flippers orange

I heard Windows Vista Basic have fewer features, so there are not as many features that need to be disabled. Plus, Basic is Cheaper then Home Premium.

But, I think if your building your own PC just get XP home or Pro since Vista still needs work.
