My bunny died! My brother's rat ripped her eye/half of her face out...I cried so hard, but I figured I'll never wash that image out of my head. Still, I feel better when I'm able to forget it and remember all the times she was there to lick my tears and console me when no one else did. I loved her just like I would my own baby...and I'll miss her, she had life ahead as she was only about four years old. So who else has suffered the death of a beloved pet?

I have. I was so sad when one of my birds died. But, I still feel sad for my pet pigeon that was stolen from my house from some older boy when I was younger. My parents gave away all the birds in the house because they are afraid of getting SARS eventhough they were not chickens.

Wow, that sucks...were you able to have them fly around and call them back to you? It's hard to get them too, but I've seen people do it. Even when I raised that baby robin I couldn't. But then again, it didn't like flying anyway, and I had to release it into the wild it wouldn't leave right away. It took hours.

The bigger birds can fly around, but the smaller birds can't fly around since they are hard to get back in the cage and it is unsafe since they might fly into a wall.
My old pigeon used to be able to fly around.

We lost one of our dwarf hamsters recently. I thought the kids would have taken it hard, but they didn't. I was scared to touch it. IT felt like a rabbits foot...the one people have as keychains.

It was killed by the other hamster it lived with. He is no where near as nice as the one that died was. We resent him for it and I feel he is mistreated sometimes because of it.

Not just because of that, but because he is not hamster-like. He shows his teeth and make scary noises when you try to play with him so we just leave him in his cage. He almost bit me several times...He has even broken out before...I am thinking of giving him away or just letting him go. The only reason I haven't let him go is because I'm afraid he will get killed out in the wild...I don't know what else to do...he scares me and the kids, but he's so small...
Anyways...we had a small funeral for Winston in the back yard. I felt sad the other day when my son accidentally called Hammy Winston cause then he remembered and asked me when Winston was coming back. I was like don't you remember we buried him in the back yard. He was like, I know, but isn't he coming back...

I had to explain the whole thing about death over to him again. He is 4.
