Police in Kyoto arrested three Osaka residents yesterday on charges of copyright violations stemming from the sale of copied DS games.

According to Japanese media, the three suspects, two of whom were a mother and son pair, are accused of operating a website which offered a 10,980 bundle consisting of an SD card with five pirated games and all the equipment required to get those games running on a DS.

Boasting, in Japanese, "It's the era of downloads for DS games," the site was also offering a large catalog of DS titles for download at prices ranging from 0 to 500 yen. Most retail DS games cost between 3,000 and 5,000 yen.

Kyoto Police investigators discovered the site during cyber patrols. According to Japanese media, this is the first time arrests have been made inside Japan in connection to pirated DS games.
