Open up notepad.

Paste or type asian characters (日本語, 中国, 한국어, etc) in notepad

Then press file>save or save as

Then for the encoding drop down menu pick UNICODE

Lastly, click save in the dialog box.

See sample unicode text file here: http://www.mxproject.com/forum/download.php?id=392

This also works for other types of text files you open in notepad like HTML and PHP.

Some systems just call it UTF-8, UTF-16 while unicode is mostpredominant name for it i have seen just UTF-8

Many folk get confused when you call a dvd drive an optical drive so figured they would likely get confused with the "unicode" "utf-8" connection
