Some people usually do a clean install of their Operating System thinking it will fix their problems. But, would it make it worse since doing a clean install of windows won't fix bad memory, dieing Hard drive, faulty power supply, over heating CPU or GPU, etc.

Plus, a lot of things are usually easy to fix in windows like a "locked registry key", "currupted drivers", etc. If you know how to use recovery console, safe mode and some other windows tools you can usually fix OS problems without the need to clean install.

Doing a clean install of windows usually mean backing up all important data to other drives, reinstalling files, and programs, customizing windows properties, etc. It seems like everytime I have to install an OS there is a lot of Hard disk thrashing and the CD-rom spins a lot.

Does this extra work "backup, and reinstall stuff" your computer have to do cause a lot of wear and tear on a computer if it is done on a monthly or yearly basis?

I sometimes think people forget their computer have mechanical parts like fans, cd/dvd drives, Hard drives, etc that break eventually after so many years of use.

Tis why i haven't reinstalled windows on on this box for quite a few years, i see no reason to it has a few quirks here and there but all OS's have that,


Some problems in windows do require a reinstallation of the OS, particularly when you have seriously over complex systems, usually when one thing goes the whole lot will follow.
