A large percentage of people I notice still use the default twitter, myspace, bebo, Blogger, wordpress theme on their sites.

But, I notice a lot of people also don't upload an avatar for their sites.

People are idiots, they generally don't change things because there to thick to be able to, or in the case of twatter it random resets your settings to default because it's written on a code base that has more bugs than your average Bug zoo

it could be that they like the default or are just to lazy to change the default. or they could be idiots like TK said and don't know there is just more then that theme.
