Do you think two letter domain extensions are worth it?

Example of two letter domains: .ca, .cc, .fm, .us, .tv, .ly, /it, etc.

I think if I were to open a website mainly targated at canadians then I will register a .ca domain.

.fm, .tv might be good if you are in the media industry like radio or TV.

.ly might be good for stuff like those tiny url shorteners like bit.ly

I still think .com, .net, .org, etc are the best extensions for websites since they are widely use.

I read on http://www.out-law.com/page-10600 that the chinese government wants chinese citizens to submit a buisness proposal before letting them have access to registering domain names. A lot of people argue this is an attempt from the chinese government to limit "free speech" in china. But, China feels it is neccessart to stamp out "obscene/sexual" material online.
