Do you think as the internet becomes increasingly faster pure text based and picture based website won't be as popular?

It is possible. I rarely visit website that are mostly text besides mxproject, gamingforce, e-mail and a few other forums. I been spending a lot of time on flash video and audiosites, and online flash/java game sites since I find a lot of the stories I read on blogs kind of repetitive these days.

Just like almost no one besides hardcore techies, system and network administrators, the odd geek uses command prompts for copying and pasting files to another drive since most OS like Windows are graphical based.

I think using Camstatio and Camstudio screencasting software tutorials on "doing tasks on a PC" is great. I can simply record and narrate" and upload my videos to youtube or another free service, and not have to use dumbed down language since most people can follow a mouse and me typing stuff on a video. I read a lot of lousy tutorials in the past on doing stuff in a book when a few seconds or minutes of video tutorial will be better.

Although, I don't see using video or audio to communicate in forums to be a good thing since it will take forever to communicate with others on the same thread. Plus, it will be difficult to moderate tons of Youtube videos with swearing, and naughty stuff.

short answer NO, all that will happen is it will be formatted into a different way of displaying like with the SVG standard same data displayed mildly different

eventually certain parts will be phased out tutorials will move away from image and text to more video based

Text will be here for a long time to come well until neuro links become the common deal

I doubt anything with text will be phased out for a long time since a good half of the internet is made up of it.

The benefits of text is it is easy to copy, print and paste, so people who like to quote or plagerize(copying without permission) can do it very easily, so I think in an Academic, essay research, work, etc basis then text still will be number 1.

But, I think video including "video based games" will be the number one source of entertainment and online marketing source on the web in a couple of years for many people.
