I just use Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Live Movie Maker since they are both free and come pre-installed in Windows.
It has most of the features I am looking for like adding custom music, a storyboard mode, and transistions/basic effects.

Ah, Looks pretty good. I use Cam Studio for Screen recording :
http://camstudio.org/ . It is sort of like the video version of Sound Recorder for Windows, but has a few extra features like Auto-pan, and webcam recorder.

when I was in school, I took a web design class which covered video making (the video making I didn't care for) and we used Adobe Premiere Pro which seem to be good.
