Nexus One killed!

As Google's open source smartphone platform has gained significant market share, hardware manufacturers have ramped up development and production of Android-based handsets. In just a few short years, the number of Android smartphones available to consumers has grown exponentially, and it seems Google's own device, the Nexus One, simply can't compete.

Today Google announced that they will discontinue online sales of the Nexus One, following sluggish sales. The product of months of speculation and hype, the Nexus One was Google's first foray into first-party smartphone hardware. The failure of the Nexus One, while not surprising given the wide range of more alluring Android-based handsets, is noteworthy due to the perception that it served as Google's answer to Apple's iPhone, one of the company's largest competitors.

Google will continue to offer the Nexus One through its online store until supplies from their most recent and final shipment are depleted, after which sales will continue for an unknown period of time in Europe and Korea, via providers Vodafone and KT.

I should buy one, not use it or anything but in 20-30 years I could sell it mint condition and make a cool million dollars.

Indeed, but I think other mint condition phones like the 1st gen. Black Berry or 1st gen. I-phone will have more buyers. Plus, a lot of Youtube partners got sent a free Nexus One from Google by displaying ads on their video by being a Youtube partner, so I think there probably are a lot of Nexus one out already.

Plus, people who own I-phones are more willing to spend more.
