Why do you think people make weird unreadable usernames?

I think people make weird unreadable usernames like "9b9l13k37" to protect their identity since it would be very hard to learn something about the member by reading and studying his username.
Another reason is because the user is lazy, and just want to view the forum as a member instead of a guest.
