Does anyone here know of some good ways to take care of your laptop so it would last longer? (cleaning it, getting a extra cool device, ect.)

I just use a cooling pad. I heard laptops are pretty hard to clean since they are harder to open, and if you use canned air you just blow the dust deeper inside the laptop which is not good.

Do you need a cooling pad if a laptop is always placed on a hard surface?
And I take it not to use a can of air on a laptop?

I think if you put the laptop on a hard surface it would be fine without a cooling fan, but if your room is very hot then a cooling pad could help cool your laptop better.
You can use canned air to clean the laptop according to this video. But, you have to be careful not to spray the canned air upside down or non-straight since water will come out of the can if you hold it upside down or non-straight and spray the laptop.

The Metro Davavac with the bundled straw attachment is better for laptops and desktops since it is not as cold, and won't blow out water like canned air when you hold it upside down or non-straight to blow stuff. You can get it at Amazon at for 57 dollars. Plus, it is cheaper then 6-7 cans of air. I been using the Datavac for a few months, and it works pretty good.

A clean and soft cotton clothe should work at cleaning your screen. Those soft clothes which you use to clean your eye glasses are probably best for cleaning screens.
