How can you tell or know if a PC is on it's last legs and is about to kick the bucket?

Random restarts, and shutdown, or random fails to startup into Windows or other operating system is a sign your PC is breaking. Freezes can be a sign your PC is breaking.

I know that when the PC fan gets loud often leading to other noises seems to be another sign.

The fan is usually pretty easy to replace when it gets noisy because it is held to the PC case with screws. There is also a sticker at the bottom of a lot of fans which you can peel off, so you can add a drop of thin oil like sewing machine oil to re-oil the fan, so it moves quietly again.

Sometimes, the fan last longer than the PC if you buy better cooling fans from good fan companies like Vantec, Thermaltake, and Cooler Master. I have some fans from older year 2002 desktop PC which I used on my newer desktop because they still work.

I know when the hard drive make squeaking, or clicking sounds, the PC's hard drive is about to break.

I heard rust from water damage can slowly break a PC when it gets really rusty.

Well if any water or a very damp environment gets near a PC it's days are numbered.

There are waterproof computers with cases which protect from water, but they are more expensive, and are not worth it unless you live in a place which has a lot of floods, or the computer is put on a boat.
