Is Western Music in general on the decline? When J.S. Bach wrote "The Well Tempered Clavier," he made such a compelling case for the new tuning system that everyone eagerly caught on and began to take tonality to new levels, pushing forward the development of Western music by a hundred years or so... Harmony continued to develop on into the 20th century but nowadays we have all this Green Day and Fall Out Boy and Alicia Keys stuff being played and I just wanted to ask if anyone else out there thinks that music has stopped and we've begun taking it backwards?
