What are some good brand Surge Protectors would you recommend? Something to use for laptops and other things which plugs into one like a tv, game systems and cable box.

APC is a good surge protector brand. I also used Cyberpower which seems pretty good.

problem is finding a good model, these days spacing for all the plugs to go into and fit and the safety features (where you have to slide the notch for the prongs to go into) are a pain.

I been using APC surge protectors, and haven't have many problems with spacing, and safety features, but I don't have many power bricks where the plug is on the brick.

I got a few belkin brand ones since them seem nice for the price. Most of them come with phone and cable ports which I feel are useless.

The phone port is useful for protecting your telephones and dial-up modems from surges because surges can come through your phone lines as well.

my area rarely gets surges much less through phone lines. And it helps that most cabling is run under ground.
