have you ever ripped songs before from a CD?

Yes, I usually rip all my Music CDs to MP3 format with CDex which is a free CD to MP3 ripper.

is it all in HD? and is the music still on the CD after the rip?

I usually rip them at 128 kbps because my hard drive is not very big, and I can't really tell the difference between 128 kbps and 192 kbps music.It still sounds pretty good on my PC or MP3 player.

Yes, the music is still on the CD. Ripping just copies the music on the CD onto my computer, and converts it to MP3.

I hear 320 kbps is the best and usually I can tell if I was to play it loud in a surround sound area like in a car.

There is a sound file format called Flac where each file is about 30MB or more in size for a 5 minute song. FLAC is the best music file format, but not all MP3 players can play FLAC files.

I have one Flac file, the song plays pretty well.
