During a storm
What do you do with your tech if there is a bad storm outside with lots of lighting?

They are safe from most power surges from your power company, but a direct lightning strike from the sky will fry most electronics, and computers.Skeithex wrote:most of my stuff is hooked up to grounded power strips, so there pretty safe.

Re: During a storm
I remember a storm about a year ago that made one of the outlet safety slides on the plug pop off with the cord also being fried but my modem and PC were fine.

That sounds like one strong power surge. I think, huge power surges are one of the dangers of using hand held electric devices like hair dryer, or electric drill since you never know when a huge power surge will happen, and possibly electrocuting you if you are holding a power tool while it is plugged in.

yeah I found it pretty odd, thankfully my ISP was open that day so I could get a new cord for the modem.
