I got protection plans for an printer, and a power adapter in the past. They didn't cost much, so I got them.

But, now that I buy most of my electronics online, I don't buy them.

Most of the electronics I buy online is usually cheap, so I can afford a new one if it breaks after the 1-2 year warranty from the manufacture of the electronic device. But, protection plans maybe useful for very expensive electronics like large 4K televisions which may cost a lot to repair.

Getting stuff replace online with protection plans maybe slightly more time consuming than going to an offline store for repairs and replacement of a defective product.

A protection plan could be useful for laptops since it is more difficult to repair yourself and can be expensive to hire someone to repair your laptop.

it actually can be easy but can be a long process pending on the part(s) needed to be fixed.
