Is there any way to stream actual tv channels over devices (roku, amazin fire tv, chromcast, ect.) and not need cable?

There are some TV channels which have websites or apps where you can watch full episodes of TV shows. But, the videos and website or apps are full of ads.

Some Cable/ISP companies may have an App for Android, Apple iOS, and Windows for watching TV on your smartphone, tablet, PC, and settop box with Android or iOS on it.

I think most cable channel TV companies have exclusive deals with Cable companies to make their channel exclusive to Cable companies, so you can only view them on Cable, or the Cable companies mobile app.

There is a TV box called Sling Box which let you watch your TV subscription which you can stream over the internet or other devices like a Phone or Tablet. But, most people use Slingbox to watch live local sports when they are in another country, or state which don't show sports from a local TV channel.

There are PC USB TV Tuner with an Antennae, so you can watch free over the air Antennae TV on your PC, but you need a cable box to watch TV on a USB TV tuner because most TV signals are encrypted to stop TV theft.

figured as much, I like to cut my cable service but there are some channels I like to watch for their programming blocks and they seem to be cable only.

Sometimes some of these channels may have a paid app subscription for PC, mobile, and settop box like Android TV, but the subscriptions for the apps are expensive sometimes.

You may also be paying more by subscribing to websites and apps because you don't get bundled discounts when you subscribe to websites and apps unlike cable where you can save a few dollars if you subscribe to packages like movie, sports, and kids bundles.

Plus, using websites, and apps to watch shows is not a good experience if your internet is slow, or your router, modem, device operating system, web browser, and the app is unstable and messes up your video streaming speed.

I remember in the past when I watch online videos at the library, the video load slowly, or failed to fully load because the internet was slow, the computers were not fast, and random network problems occur where the network was down or laggy.

Pending on your needs, cable could still be cheaper.
