South korea's gaming addiction problem

Gov. is worried about PC game addicts which is 2.4 % of young people (9 to 32). 10.2% are almost addicted to gaming which are people who play games to the point of sleeplessness, disruptive to life, and becoming delusional. 10 people had died from playing PC games in 2005 which is up from 2 in 2001-04 in s.korea. Most death are caused by siting on a chair for too long which causes blood circulation problems. The gov. launch a game addict helpline, hundreds of hospitals, psychiatric clinics have open specialized units to help treat the problem. One cause, for gaming addiction is educational stress from parents for their kids to achieve which causes some young people to escape from reality by playing online RPG which have no end, so they feel invincible oppose to their real life where they depress. Another cause, is that s.korea a socailly conservative country where Drugs and teen sex is rare, so gaming becomes an attractive outlet for escaping reality.

Well, not only in South Korea but also other asian countries and also around the world! You can't really help it since games are really addicting to lots of people, especially computer and video games. ^_^
