That's one way, a more hard way is actually taking the ram out of its slot and reinserting it.froggyboy604 wrote:Do you mean restarting the computer to reset the RAM?Skeithex wrote:Do you think its a good idea to reset ram in a PC device every now and then to refresh it?
I think it is a good idea to occasionally restart the computer to reset the RAM.
I think it can be risky taking out RAM from the slot when your RAM is working fine because you can shorten its life if your hand has static electricity which zaps your RAM, or some water, or other stuff like dirt is on your hand which may damage your RAM.Skeithex wrote: That's one way, a more hard way is actually taking the ram out of its slot and reinserting it.
that's why you should work on a anti static surface along with a anti static wrist band.froggyboy604 wrote:I think it can be risky taking out RAM from the slot when your RAM is working fine because you can shorten its life if your hand has static electricity which zaps your RAM, or some water, or other stuff like dirt is on your hand which may damage your RAM.Skeithex wrote: That's one way, a more hard way is actually taking the ram out of its slot and reinserting it.
There is also a possibility of dropping your RAM on the floor, damaging the gold RAM contacts, and damaging the slot when taking out your RAM and reinserting it.
There is always a rare chance that the anti-static wrist strap and surface may fail, and not protect your PC from static shock.Skeithex wrote: that's why you should work on a anti static surface along with a anti static wrist band.
if nothing else, the metal frame of the PC will keep a person grounded.froggyboy604 wrote:There is always a rare chance that the anti-static wrist strap and surface may fail, and not protect your PC from static shock.Skeithex wrote: that's why you should work on a anti static surface along with a anti static wrist band.
