I never really use the usb drive strap much because it can get tangled easily wth other things in my pocket.

Same, I have deep pockets that I keep a lot in so I try to keep straps out.

I imagine having a strap accidentally hang out on a pocket may make some robbers try to steal your usb flash drive thinking the strap is attach to a smartphone, wallet, car keys, or the wires from headphones or ear buds.

I've heard of it happening, plus straps tend to get caught on things and get pulled out and fall to the ground.

Wearing shiny gold and silver colored straps or chains and the usb flash drive is a shiny color could make people a victim of robbery from robbers who think it is a jewel.

The strap may also wear out over time if it is made of plastic or cheap string.
