I think more people may also use forums to look for real opinions on movies, music, and video games because social networks can have a lot of ads, AI, and auto-play HD video which can use too much data/bandwidth which can slowdown their internet, and cause them to pay high overage fines if they go over their monthly bandwidth limit.

True, you tend to get more real people on forums since AI bots and their like are more focused on social sites like FB and Instagram.

Social sites usually contain more tracking, advertising, and other sctipts anf apps which can slow down older and slower computers and smartphones,and use up more battery life.

forums can get pretty loaded up as well, but not as bad as social sites which is why they are still easier on browsers.

I think there are some simpler templates/themes which may make forums work better on slower devices and internet connevtions.
