I am just shocked to see this headline. My first-ever Korean drama was “Wish Upon A Star” starring her, Ahn Jae Wook and Cha In Pyo. But she’s gone now.

Choi Jin Shil was found to have commited suicide in her home in Seocho-gu, Seoul. According to the police, her body was found this morning in her bathroom at 6.15am and they are now investigating. “We received news of her suicide and went to verify it. We are now investigating,” said the police. It was later revealed by another police officer that her mother had called the police after discovering that she had hanged herself in the bathroom.

She is likely to have been pushed over the edge over the fact that she had a hand to play in Ahn Jae Hwan’s death who committed suicide last month by lending him 2.5M USD. But she had alleged that it was a malicious rumor and had threatened legal action. She leaves behind her ex-husband and children. My condolences to her family members. Rest in Peace, Choi Jin Shil.

Actress Choi Jin-sil Found Dead at Home

Choi Jin-sil, a famous South Korean actress, was found dead at her home in what appears to be a suicide, Yonhap Nwes reported quoting police sources Thursday.

Choi's mother found the actress with an elastic band around her neck tied to a shower stall in her home in southern Seoul, officers at the Seocho Police Station said.

"We confirmed her death at 7:38 a.m. after receiving a call that Ms. Choi committed suicide," a police officer was quoted as saying.

Police have been investigating rumors that linked Choi to the recent suicide of another actor, Ahn Jae-hwan, in early September. Rumors circulated that she had lent a large amount of money to Ahn whose debt was mounting from a failing business.

Choi, 40, had since sought a police probe into the source of the rumors, calling them groundless. Investigators arrested a woman, a securities company employee, this week for spreading the rumors.

Choi, one of South Korea's top actresses, whose marriage to pro baseball player Cho Sung-min ended in an ugly divorce in 2004, is survived by two children.
