The main purpose of the internet for most people?

I think the main purpose of the internet for most people is to earn money since most websites I visit have advertisement, sell goods and services.

Not a lot of people works for free even the free websites which provides a free service like gmail, google.com is supported by ads, and paid subscriptions.

For the vistors of websites. They use websites to save money and entertain themselves.

The original purpose for the internet was to make research easier,

then it became the "pr0n" distributinon network of choice

and now it's the cash cow

and tomorrow it will be outdated

I notice there are not a lot of non-profit websites on the internet compared to for profit companies. Plus, some non-profit websites seem kind of fishy.
