What file format do you save your Word and Excel files?

What file format do you save your Word and Excel files?

I save my Word files as .doc and spreadsheet files as .xls which are compatible with Office 2000-Office 2003.

I'm not too into .docx and .xlsx files which are office 2007 files since not everyone has Office 2007 on their computer,

which ever's convenient, .*x or .* tis matters not.
I never really understood Thursdays.
