I notice a lot of people buy poorly made Power Supplies which cost $10 and are around 200W-350W, or the wattage is misleading, and people add them into a computer that uses a Pentium 4 or higher with 2GB of RAM, and a few hard drives. People can easily find a better power supply for $40-50 or more made by Antec, Enermax, Themaltake, Seasonic, Corsair, Cooler Master, Sparkle, Fortron, Delta, etc.
Same goes for Surge protected power bars. I notice some people use power bars that does not have a very high Joule rating like 200J or less. They cost about $5.
But, for $10-30 dolleas you can buy a better power bar made by APC, Belkin, Cyberpower, monster, etc that have a insurance policy and warranty for your device if they are damaged by power spikes.
My guest for people saving on Power Supplies and Bars is because people are uninformed about the dangers of power spikes and what they can do to sensitive electronics, and power supplies and bars are boring and do not make the computer more fast.
Kind of offtopic, but better Power supplies usually have better fans which cool your computer better, and don't run as hot saving you a little cash because they are more efficient then the $10 PSU.
Do most people become too cheap when buying power supplys and surge power bars for their computer?
