Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Kojima wandered onto Sony's stage during their E3 press conference and officially announced Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP.

A few hints leaked out about the game over the weekend, but now it's been confirmed and officially has a name. No specific release date was given, but it's tentatively scheduled for sometime in 2010.

As for the story, Peace Walker is set ten years after the events in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and is considered a true sequel. The first-look trailer was narrated by what we think is the Colonel doing voice work over footage of nuclear launch missiles.. The setting is 1974, an unknown power overtakes Costa Rica. Big Boss (or Naked Snake) is seen infiltrating a base with a bunch of other clones. The trailer closed out with the a flying Metal Gear battle. Oh yeah, you'll also be able to hide in boxes.

Kojima said he is deeply involved with this new game, writing the script and overseeing the production. He reiterated this is not a side-story or spin-off.
