As reported earlier here at IGN Wii, Nintendo is giving potential Wii buyers in Japan a new option through a new black Wii. We've got more details now, along with news on a special pack for Monster Hunter 3.
First, the basics. Nintendo announced today a new black colored Wii system for the Japanese market. The system, which includes a black Wiimote and nunchuck, will ship on August 1, priced at the standard 25,000 yen going price.
It will be joined by separately available black accessories. Also set for August 1 are a black Wiimote (3,800 yen), a black Nunchuck (1,800 yen), and a black Classic Controller Pro (2,000 yen). The white Classic Controller launches on the same day. All accessories are being priced the same as their white counterparts.
The August 1 released is timed perfectly with one of Wii's biggest releases yet over in Japan. Capcom will release Monster Hunter 3 on that date, and if you know Japan, you know they love the series to the tune of 3.5 million sold for the last PSP installment (that's way more than even Final Fantasy sells!).
Monster Hunter 3 was previously set to be released standalone and as part of a bundle combining the game with a Classic Controller Pro. To that list, Capcom added today the Monster Hunter 3 Special Pack. This bundle includes MH3, a black Wii and a black Classic Controller Pro. Pricing is set at 33,000 yen.
MH3's Classic Controller pack will also be available with a black pro unit.
As mentioned in our previous report, the black Wii and all black accessories are Japan-only at the moment. Same goes for the Monster Hunter pack. Join us in nightly prayers for an international release.
