Beatles Rock Band Sales Are Rocking!

Post by Skeithex »

MTV parent company Viacom expects big numbers from The Beatles: Rock Band. But with a recent decline in music game sales lately, nothing seemed like a guarantee.

President and CEO Philippe Dauman spoke during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia XVIII Conference yesterday. When asked about how well The Beatles: Rock Band has performed sales wise during its first week, Dauman said it's actually been better than they anticipated.

"It's been terrific. Sales have exceeded our internal expectations," he said. "In the first week, we sold about 25% of our inventory. We've had tremendous excitement around this game."

Dauman would continue on to say he believes the game will have legs and that it's selling equally well on all platforms. The limited edition set that retails for $249 is also selling "really fast" and he predicts it will be sold out by November.

Dauman also noted the additional downloadable Beatles album packs coming this fall will only help drive sales into the New Year.

Interesting, that Rockband still is so popular since they all seem the same to me. I wonder when or if there is "The rolling stones" version for rockband. It be neat if there was a J-rock version of rock band.

I'm sure there will be.
