Any ideas on how to fix a motherboard on a laptop?

Post by froggyboy604 »

Never mind it was crappy RAM or a Crappy RAM Socket. I took out the first stick of RAM, and everything works fine now.

Though, I still have a feeling my GPU or Motherboard might crap out on me sooner or later.

I got this laptop which is a HP DV2000, and recently it can not boot. I remember using it and suddenly the video died, so I suspect it is the Nvidia GPU or the motherboard which is dead, and Windows gave a message like "Windows recover from a video related crash" It only shows the start up logo which looks distorted and nothing more. It does not boot or anything. I only see the blue lights and hear the fan.

When I turn it on, I see the hard drive and DVD drive light up and spin.

I got a feeling it looks very hard to fix since laptop parts are harder to replace except for the RAM, and hard drive.

Indeed, I got the laptop for free from my sister, so I can't complain. Laptop parts seem very expensive, and hard to find.
