Yes, it would be nice if those (X) close buttons for ads on videos are easier to click, or there was an option on video sites to opt-out of them.

I bet 10-20% of the ads people click on video ads are unintentional because they click outside of the X button when trying to close the video to enjoy the video.

i'd of thought a much higher figure than that, on some ads the close button is about 8*8px and on high res screen thats virtually invisible.

In a way, Both the viewer and advertiser are getting ripped off.

The person who click on the ad did it by accident, and waste a second or two of their time + bandwidth on clicking the ad, and their video loads slower because an additional site is loading if it is a pop-up ad. If it is a regular ad without pop-ups the viewer have to click the back button, and reload the video.

The advertiser who purchased the ad space on the video is not getting targeted traffic from people who intends on visiting the site because it looks interesting to buy products and services.

Very true that would actually be a waste of money for the advertiser if they are paying per click.

Yes, so true. The only people who benifit in the short run are the Video makers are posted ads on their videos. But, in the long run. People will unsubscribe to video makers with ads which are hard to close since watching a video is no fun and clicking on an uninteresting ad is irratating sort of like those people who try to trick users into clicking ads on their site by mixing them in with the blog post or content on the site.
