I would hope so since that is what W8 is made for.

Re: Down grade from W8 to W7
I read Windows 8.1 which is a free update to Windows 8 will work better on a non-touchscreen computer. But, it won't have a non-fullscreen startmenu, and it will just have a start button. There also will be an All-Programs button on the touchscreen user interface, and the ability to resize tile shortcuts.
8.1 would be an improvement for non-touchscreen computers, but not as good as older versions of Windows for non-touchscreen PC.

Re: Down grade from W8 to W7
I wonder would there be a 9th or 10th version of Windows since Microsoft may rename their operating system to a different name since the Windows name been used since 1992, and renaming Windows to a new name could be a good idea like how Apple renames its operating systems by using different Cat names like Tiger, Snow Lepard, Lion, etc.
Microsoft could also re-use the same 8 number, and call their future operating systems 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, etc, so people would know it would be Windows OS like how Apple use 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, etc for the version number, so it is familiar with people.

I think they should wait another ten years where name changes will be easily recognized among a better tech savory.
