I will admit with drones these days, it might be harder to keep others from finding out about your high tech gear.

A powerful telescope, and using a building roof would also work at finding who owns high tech gear. But, it is not a good idea to hide out on a rooftop with a telescope which people may mistaken for a long gun, and call the police because they think there is a guy with a long gun on a roof.

I think drone owners can also be robbery victims since most outdoor drones cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. The drone's small 4K cameras like GoPro can cost a lot as well. The robber can use a knife or gun to threaten drone owners for the controller, and drone.

Things are just getting to a point you can't leave anything out safely.

I agree things are getting to the point where we can't have things and money without worrying that a robber will steal our stuff, and sell it to someone else to earn money for buying things like alcohol, drugs, and weapons like guns and knives which maybe used to commit more serious crimes.

Home , Car, and pick pocketing robberies still seem to be a very common crime problem in North America, and South America unless you live in a small town or village where there is less to steal.

sometimes it depends on your community. My town is generally pretty safe, but I would always be nervous in a place like Chicago or NYC.

I agree I would be nervous in New York and Chicago which seems to have a lot of gun violence based on News reports I saw on TV.
