True, those small PCs can do most of these tasks. But, I feel bigger sized desktop computer look more durable and last longer where you can use them for over 10 years as long as you clean out dust, prevent overheating, and use a surge protected powerbar to protect your computer from power surges. There are still many Windows XP desktop computers which can be up to 15 years old if they bought an XP computer when it is released in 2001.Skeithex wrote:you can still get small pcs via raspberry pi to do all that for a very cheap cost.froggyboy604 wrote:
I agree everything is a computer now. I think regular old fashion landlines are not available in many places now, and many home phones use Cable internet cables, Fiber optic cables, wireless signals, and more modern connections which connect to the internet, or a network which is similar to the internet or work networks.
I agree most people seem to be giving up classic PCs, but they may make a comeback as more people plan on starting a blog, forum, record music/audio, or make videos to publish on YouTube, and write books where a classic PC has the best software for creating content.

Sometimes people can be cheap where they rather buy a $200-300 small PC, and don't want to pay a $400 and more for a decent bigger PC which is more powerful, last longer, and can be upgraded with more RAM, and a faster CPU.Skeithex wrote:bigger is usually better, but these days all people care about is smaller ones.
If you plan on playing PC Games, and do more intensive tasks like record, and edit video, and music files, a bigger PC would be better.

In the past, most desktop PCs I bought came with a keyboard, and mouse. It also came with a lot of software which I did not use, or had to pay to use after the 30 day free trial is over.Skeithex wrote:it doesn't help these days where you buy a PC but still have to buy a lot more like keyboards, mouses, software, ect.
I need to buy my own monitor, but monitors can last many years, so I end up using the old monitor for my new PCs.

I've noticed some low end tower models don't come with such stuff, which is a shame which I still have a pair of speakers that came with my old emachines desk top which is the best thing you can ever get.

That is a shame, and kind of cheap of the company since keyboards and mouse are not that expensive. There are some keyboards and mouse which users can buy for $10 on eBay and Amazon.Skeithex wrote:I've noticed some low end tower models don't come with such stuff, which is a shame which I still have a pair of speakers that came with my old emachines desk top which is the best thing you can ever get.
One of my old computers came with a pair a speakers as well.
A lot of monitors these days have built-in speakers, and some users just plug in their PC to a TV which has speakers, so the need for speakers may not be as high these days.
