old printers

Post by Skeithex »

Do you think its not fair that old printers aren't supported for Windows 10? Seems like any printer over the age of 5 years won't work with win10.

Yes, it is unfair that old printers don't support Windows 10. But, most cheap inkjet printers over 5 years old, and used everyday could be almost at the end of their life since Printers are not very durable, and hard to repair for most users. The price for printer parts like the print head can also cost as much as buying another cheap printer which you can get for $40.

There are also not a lot of computer and electronics store which repair printers.

repairing printers is actually hard due to all their internal parts. Though pending on the age of the printer and use, it will still out last any of today's throw away printers.

I agree, a lot of printers these days are throwaway printers. I think most people buy these printers with low expectations of the printer lasting a few years, or just planing to use it to print a few homework assignment or work documents when they are away from the school and work printers.

Sometimes the official ink or laser printer toner can cost as much as a basic printer made by a cheaper brand.

pretty much true, some HP ink runs as much as $150 which is more than a lot of their basic printers. Though if you get a Square Trade protection plan, they will reimburse you for the amount you spent on the printer.

That's expensive ink. Those protection plans can get pretty expensive where buying a basic printer is cheaper if you are a light user who mostly just print a few papers per year,

I think some printer companies may buy back used printers from customers, and eBay for a very low prices, and re-sell old printers for higher prices as a refurbished printer for after checking to see if the printer works. Most refurbished printers do not come with ink, so users need to buy a very expensive black and color ink cartridge. There are printers which need a color cartridge to turn-on.
