I know mine used to offer norton, but they stopped it, the deal must not have been very good.

My ISP gives away McAfee to subscriber. I think Norton maybe giving a large discount to your ISP, or paying the ISP to be the ISP official antivirus. Norton may not want to be losing as much money by partnering with your ISP.

Or people found out it wasn't enough or too much. Norton can drag systems and Mcafee alone is hardly enough to keep a pc safe.

I read a few replies on tech blogs that say McAfee higher priced antivirus made for workplaces and schools are better than the home antivirus.

I'm not surprised they would sell a lesser version for home, I do often see the Mcafee name on websites and the such.

The Home version of McAfee may not include a lot of the features found in the more expensive versions of McAfee antivirus programs. I feel antivirus makers may make a cheap version of their antivirus to bundle with computers, or sell at stores for a cheap price or 30 day trial with computers which come pre-installed with McAfee.

I guess McAfee may make different versions of Antivirus programs for different countries which have more strict computer security laws where an Antivirus program needs to pass antivirus protection test before the antivirus can be sold in some countries.

I know mcafee often pushes weaker versions just so people would upgrade if need be.
