Not sure about that, unless a virus changes a DNS or IP address.

I think there were router/modem viruses which change the DNS which send people to scam websites.

They kind of moved on from that to browser notifications, if you're not aware of it, it becomes rather annoying

I heard pop-up windows used to be very annoying, and can open links to scam websites. I wonder would web browsers will block notifications from bad websites.

It is annoying, especially if your older and don't know anything about pcs to close it.

I feel a lot of younger kids may not know how to close malware related notifications because they may not of use a computer for most of their lives except for more basic computers like tablets and Chromebooks.

Not sure what they teach in school, which may not be the right stuff to close infected websites
