SSDs can get hot and over heat, I had that issue with my laptop and needed to get a fan for it.

I wonder if using a lightweight operating system like Windows XP to scan for viruses would make a computer not overheat as much because of Windows XP low CPU and RAM usage.

I think it does? I've seen boot cleaning medias use XP as a means of a GUI for all the options.

I think the original version of Windows XP only require 64MB of RAM to run, and it can run on older Celeron cpus, so I think XP computers mostly get hot from very intensive tasks like gaming and video editing.

Most Windows XP antivirus may also be design to work on Windows 98 at the time because Windows 98 was still being used when XP came out.

I remember hearing few differences between 98 and XP back in the day, so it should work fine. I hear 2000 really changed things up and then Vista just changed everything.

I think Windows 2000 was mostly used in workplace and school PCs before XP was released. Windows 2000 is similar to XP, but with fewer features.

I heard Vista had those pop-up confirmation massages which made Windows Vista safer.

Vista did have more security, but I think it reduced system performance.
