Re: Purchasing parts
I wonder if Acer uses cheaper thermal paste and CPU heatsinks and fans which cause them to burn out sooner.

Re: Purchasing parts
Wouldn't surprise me considering what I've seen. Most of the low-end ones are shot within a few years.

Re: Purchasing parts
I heard the power supplies on cheaper computers usually go bad quicker than more expensive computers.

They can, specially if there is any shocks or power spikes. Or rough treatment of the power cord.

Re: Purchasing parts
I feel some people who buy cheap computers may less likely buy a good surge protected power bar, so power surges can break cheap computers more often becase of bad surge protection.

Yep, they go cheap as possible and can cost them more in the long run. Why it is best to buy high quality materials and parts.

Re: Purchasing parts
I think cheaper computers from smaller brands like computers built by local computer stores sometimes last longer since local computer stores and smaller brands need more repeat buyers to buy their computers, so they can earn enough money from repeat buyers to stay in buisness.
