I think some cheaper computers only use the fan on the power supply to blow out hot air, so cheaper power supplies may cause a PC to run hotter if the fan on the power supply is slower.

Pretty much, I've seen low end laptops burn out rather quickly.

I think lower end power supplies are more likely to get damaged by power surges, and the power surge end up breaking the motherboard,

Getting a surge protector might help, though you would need a good one.

I agree, getting a good surge protector would help. But, a lot of people may pick low quality surge bars which are not very good.

They tend to do, thinking it do the same as a high end one and not hold back any surges.

I think most people don''t read surge protector's packaging boxes which help explain if the surge protector offers better protection than cheaper surge protectors.
