I think the scissors could also get damaged if it is a pair of cheap scissors, and there is always a risk of stabbing yourself with scissors if you are clumsy.

Which is why using something dull/blunt or a box cutter is a lot safer.

I think those hard to open plastic cases are not as popular these days, but they maybe making a comeback to prevent people from stealing USB flash drives, and RAM.

Unfortunately, I feel those disposable hard plastic wrapping boxes may make a comeback because of people stealing from tech stores.

Most sales are online, few stores actually carry anything that can be easily stolen.

I think used computer parts stores and computer thrift stores still mostly sell products at an offline store.
