I think the CD player may not weigh a lot because it is mostly made with plastic. But, the hard drive can weigh more on a older laptop.

No actually, back in the day it was all metal, metal frames, metal parts, those laptops could take drops and beatings and keep on working.

I think police officers were one of the main buyers of Windows laptops many years ago, so laptop makers may of made more durable laptops to convince police departments to buy their laptops to use in their police cars and outdoors to look up information on criminals and write police reports.

There are still tough laptops made, but they aren't easy to come by. Most on a retail level are easy to break.

I heard many retail laptops have poor quality batteries which can't hold as much electricity after a few years of use, so many people may replace their laptop with a bad battery before it gets damaged by accident.

Oh they are junk and if the typical user doesn't know to unplug the power cord, then the battery will be dead within 6 months.

It is disappointing how a lot of batteries are now junk after a few months to years. I think the chargers can also go bad if you use them too much.
