China electrocutes young gamers

For their own good

CHILDREN in China are being treated for internet addiction by being plugged into the mains.

The popular form of torture was once held to be respectable in the mental health field in the West until it was discovered that it didn't actually cure anyone and was a mite painful for the patient.

While the Chinese government runs a public crusade against Internet addiction, parents are apparently packing their kids off to rehab centres which are run like military boot camps where their teens get the shock of their lives, literally.

An old military base a clinic in Daxing, a suburb of Beijing, has been converted to treat patients, who range in age from 12 to 24.

The military researcher Tao Ran who runs the place made a name for himself treating heroin addicts using similar techniques. He uses counseling, military discipline, drugs, hypnosis and mild electric shocks to cure his patents.

Apparently he has had some success. But then nothing focuses a teen's mind more than the thought of getting an electric jolt if he does not comply with someone else's wishes.

that sounds painful geting mild elctric shocks for enjoying videogames too much. The Therapists and staffs should electrocute themselves and see how it feels. It's just as bad as the US army testing non-leathal weapons that make ppl feel like their on fire on protesters.
