Re: Purchasing parts
Junk yard diving can be very stinky, so very few people may go junkyard diving for tech which may contain insects. I guest some people may go on sites like Facebook and Craigslists to see if anyone is giving away broken security cameras, or selling used security cameras for a low price.

Usually going after trash can be dangerous and usually damaged beyond use.

Re: Purchasing parts
I imagine some computers and tech products in the junkyard may contain computer viruses and malware which may infect other computers on a network.

More than likely, you should never hook up a random pc to your network, it's asking for deep trouble.

Re: Purchasing parts
I think people who plug their phone and USB storage drive into a PC can infect PC's on a network as well.

They do, it's why most companies do or at least should, make it that people can't use an outside pc.

Re: Purchasing parts
I think many outside PC may be using a poor quality antivirus which did not stop a virus from turning off the antivirus, so some outside PC can be unsafe to use at a workplace.
