US Air Force to test beam weapons on Americans

If it kills them we won’t use it on foreigners

By Nick Farrell: Wednesday 13 September 2006, 14:39

ANYONE PLANNING voicing their democratic right in a fashion deemed a little out of line by the American armed forces, could find themselves at the business end of some natty experimental technology.
The US Air Force is apparently itching to test some nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices on unruly US citizens in "crowd-control situations".

According to Airforce Secretary Michael Wynne it is important that the weapons be tried out on American citizens in before being used on the battlefield.>{? He said it was all down to public relations. If something goes wrong if it is used in the US it is "easier to avoid questions from others about possible safety considerations," he said.

Wynne said that if he hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, he would be vilified in the world press.

This apparently is a lot worse than being vilified in the US press which is clearly not as dangerous.

The sort of technology the Air Force wants to play with is microwaved based weapons that weaken people if they are hit with the beam. The weapons can emit short energy pulses and scramble electronic devices.

Scary. I think it's bad to test weapons on people, and on your own people. It's as bad as testing weapons on your loved ones. Not all protestors in the US are US citizens some are temporary workers from other countries, tourists, illegal imigrants, or exchange students, etc. I bet non-americans have a bad view of america after being hit by a non-lethal weapon.

I think he is already viliffied by the world press for having such a sinister plan.

WTF??? is wrong with them. if they really want to test it on people they should test it on themselves first. cuz they would rather take the risk and may eventually kill. but yea that is sooo wrong.
